How can I find out if implants are suitable for me?

Your own dentist will be able to answer any initial questions that you may have regarding dental implants. If you would like a specialist consultation then your dentist can arrange for one to be carried out at the Market Place Dental Practice, 1a Little Brittox, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 1AR. |

X-Rays (Radiographs)
All patients who are considering dental implant treatment will need to have x-rays taken to look at the quality and quantity of bone at the site of the missing tooth/teeth. You may need to have a special guide made to be held in the mouth when the x-rays are taken to allow accurate measurements to be taken from the x-rays.
A CT scan may be necessary if the shape of your jaw bone is complex. These cannot be carried out at the practice and you will need to visit a hospital for this to be carried out. |

Models For most patients models of your teeth and gums will be needed for accurate implant planning. These may need to mounted onto a device called an articulator which mimics the precise movements of your jaws. Articulated models are not usually needed for most patients. |

|
| The results of the tests will be assessed and a detailed description of the treatment options which are possible will be discussed with you and a written report sent to you with the relevant costs. If implant treatment is not possible then other treatment options open to you will be discussed. The cost of implant treatment can be relatively high due to the cost of the implant components and the special care needed when planning and carrying out implant treatment. However, we will endeavour to minimise the cost to you without reducing the quality of the care that you receive. |
